the furniture advantage is protection, the disadvantage is added weight, size and cost. crating even small items may cost $50.00 - $100.00, with large items costing hundreds of dollars. double corrugated cardboard using heavy grades (or double layers) of cardboard is often a reasonable option to crating. the majority of items shipped are shipped in this manner.
